Very soon, for the first time, Thomas W. Schaller, a world-renowned artist from the United States, will come to Mexico to conduct two workshops during the II International Art Festival RIOS DE COLOR.

You will learn about architectural drawing and urban landscape in watercolor.

Thomas W. Schaller

Thomas W. Schaller is an internationally renowned artist, architect, and author based in New York.

He has received the following awards: The 2024 Arthur Ross Award in Fine Arts from the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art, NYC. He also received the 2024 Raphael Award, a Graham Foundation Fellowship, and the Hugh Ferriss Memorial Prize on two occasions.

He is the author of three books: Architecture in Watercolor, a bestseller and AIA award winner; The Art of Architectural Drawing, and Thomas W. Schaller, Architect of Light: Watercolor Paintings by a Master, Penguin / Random House, NYC.

Artist Network Television has produced two bestselling DVD series of instructional videos of his technique. Creative Catalyst, Streamline Video published a video of his process in 2020. He recently published the first interactive online curriculum for his class Design and the Power of Imagination and The Power and Poetry of Drawing with Terracotta LLC.

His work is collected worldwide and is part of several permanent collections, such as the Johhan Museum: Shanghai: The Watermark Museum; Fabriano: Tchoban Foundation; Berlin: The Pacific Arts Foundation; Newport Beach, The Museum of Watercolor, Mexico City. His works have been featured in prestigious international exhibitions of watercolor masters in over twenty-five countries.

He is a distinguished member of numerous artistic organizations, such as the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. Tom was recently elected a member of the International Alliance of Watercolor Masters, and received the title of Master from the California Watercolor Association and the San Diego Watercolor Society. He has been appointed to the Advisory Board of American Watercolor Weekly, Streamline Media, Terracotta LLC and elected Artist Member of the California Art Club and the Salmagundi Art Club, NYC.

He is president emeritus of the American Society of Architectural Illustrators, elected member of the American Institute of Architects, and founding member of the North American Watercolor Artists group.
