Roberto Zangarelli - Italy
Roberto Zangarelli is a distinguished Italian watercolorist and graphic illustrator. He studied at art school and later at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), where he developed a visual approach that combines design, illustration, and painting into a distinctive expressive language.
He is the owner of the advertising studio Erregi Grafica, based in Rome, where he develops graphic design and illustration projects. Alongside his professional practice, he maintains an active teaching career: he teaches watercolor at the Association Aquarelle Art Studio in Rome and collaborates with the international learning platform Domestika, sharing his method with students from different countries.
His work has been exhibited in numerous international shows and events in Italy, China, Portugal, France, and the United States. In 2026, he remains active as an instructor through his platform Terracotta Art, where he offers specialized courses focused on the expressive language of watercolor.
Zangarelli defines his artistic approach through three key principles, foremost among them atmosphere, which he considers the soul and narrative essence of a painting. His work—primarily urban and seascape scenes—is characterized by vibrant energy that borders on abstraction, prioritizing emotion, movement, and visual experience over traditional academic rigor.
