Luis Viñals – Mexico.
Luis Viñals Garmendia (Mexico City, Mexico) is a visual artist specializing in watercolor, a technique he considers his primary medium for the freedom that water grants upon paper. His work focuses on exploring movement, color, and the human figure, reflecting the energy and spontaneity that emerge when working with this medium.
Throughout his career, he has participated in more than 100 group and solo exhibitions, receiving distinctions that highlight his artistic trajectory. His work is distinguished by its fluidity, expressiveness, and the interplay between control and chance that watercolor demands. As he himself describes his work:
“Viñals views watercolor as a dialogue with water: a medium that cannot be fully controlled, but rather accompanied. My recent works seek to convey this sense of movement and light, allowing the technique to guide part of the outcome.”
Viñals also shares his experience by teaching watercolor and collaborating with galleries and art platforms, offering works accompanied by certificates of authenticity and professional dissemination. His work combines technical mastery and sensitivity, capturing the essence of movement and natural beauty in each piece.
