Javid Tabatabaei – Iran
Javid Tabatabaei (Tehran, Iran, 1975), also known as Javid Tabai, is a contemporary watercolorist celebrated for his sensitivity to light, atmosphere, and the emotion conveyed in every pictorial gesture. Trained in graphic design at Montazeri High School in Isfahan, his visual approach blends careful composition with a richly nuanced use of color.
His work explores urban and natural landscapes, as well as evocative scenes that engage in dialogue with memory, time, and perception. He has worked in diverse corners of the world—from the canals of China to the landscapes of Bali and Jakarta—building a bridge between his Persian roots and a global perspective. His watercolor practice is distinguished by the fusion of refined technique, spontaneity, and a constant fascination with light and depth.
Beyond his work as a creator, Javid shares his experience as an educator, offering workshops, masterclasses, and online tutorials that have inspired artists of varying levels around the world. He currently maintains an artistic practice between Iran and Canada, participating in international exhibitions and educational projects.
He has been recognized at festivals and exhibitions in Japan, Turkey, Pakistan, and Mexico, and has served on international juries, biennials, and watercolor competitions.
