Born in São Paulo in 1962, at the age of 11 he was a student of the painters Salvador Rodrigues Jr., Giovanni Oppido and Sante Bullo, Italian painters. He won several awards at art exhibitions held in Brazil. At the age of 16 he opened his first studio producing countless works while continuously teaching.

Geraldo's basic training included working with live models, still lifes, flowers, landscapes, and posed figures. He was taught the essential techniques of painting and drawing, along with the technical aspects of painting. This training led him to further immerse himself in the subject through extensive reading, resulting in a rich personal library.

To broaden his knowledge, he traveled to Russia in 1999, where he enrolled in the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow for his first year. In 2000, he moved to St. Petersburg to study at the Ilia Repin Academy, where he graduated in 2007. During his studies, several of his works were included in the collection of the academy museum. He received several awards at internal salons, including first place at the 2007 drawing exhibition. That same year, Gilberto Geraldo was accepted as a member of the Association of Russian Artists in St. Petersburg. He completed three years of doctoral studies in art history.

In St. Petersburg he established a studio where he created numerous works and taught in various studios throughout Russia. His commitment to the dissemination of knowledge has led him to give master classes in Portugal, Spain, Brazil, the United States, and China. It is noteworthy that he spent six months working in the United States.
