Ekaterina Sava – Belarus

Ekaterina Sava (Novogrudok, Belarus, c. 1989) is an international visual artist and watercolorist, currently based in Italy. Her initial training in architecture shaped her way of seeing and composing, but it was in watercolor that she discovered her own language—one that is freer and more sensitive. Her practice combines technical rigor with creative freedom, adopting a serene approach that invites viewers to observe nature with attention, respect, and calm.

Her work focuses primarily on flowers and still lifes, approached with a careful eye for light, air, and the simplicity of everyday life. For Ekaterina, watercolor is not a medium to construct artifice but a sincere way of observing the world: “The uniqueness of the watercolor world lies not in creating an artificial illusion, but in allowing the simplicity and lightness of our surroundings to be distinguished. The purity of natural lines, the freshness of non-artificial color combinations, and the invisible presence of air are embodied in the works of this technique.”

Since 2009, she has participated in exhibitions, festivals, and watercolor biennials across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, where her work has been selected and awarded on multiple occasions. Notable recognitions include the International IWS x Paul Rubens competition prize (China, 2018), as well as invitations and selections for major international events, including watercolor biennials in which Italy has been a guest country. Her work has been exhibited in group shows in countries such as France, Italy, China, India, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, and Russia, establishing a consistent presence in the international contemporary watercolor scene.

In parallel with her artistic practice, she actively engages in education through in-person workshops and online courses.
