André Kano – Brazil.

André Kano (São Paulo, Brazil) is a visual artist, painter, and designer with an international career, specializing in watercolor, illustration, and graphic design. He was born into an artistically inclined family of Japanese heritage, which influenced his artistic development from an early age. He began his professional career in Brazil as an illustrator and graphic designer before moving to Lisbon, Portugal, in 1989, where he founded his own creative studio.

His work blends watercolor and graphic techniques with a keen focus on color and form, allowing him to participate in exhibitions, workshops, and international watercolor gatherings. He has received international recognition, including an Honorable Mention from the International Watercolor Society – India (Olympiart Festival 2019), awards in Kosovo and Fabriano (Italy), and a Merit Award in Edinburgh.

In addition to painting and exhibiting, he is frequently invited as a juror and instructor at art competitions and festivals. His approach combines discipline with sensitivity, making his work accessible, evocative, and enjoyable for diverse audiences.

Regarding his relationship with watercolor, Kano has said that for him, the medium represents “a world full of possibilities, allowing me to showcase what I value most in pictorial art: the challenge to face obstacles and overcome them.”
